Ninth General Assembly of the Salesian Youth Movement (Europe and M. East)
The Ninth General Assembly of the Salesian Youth Movement (Europe and M. East) was held from November 29 to December 1, 2013 at the Salezjańskie Centrum, Cracovia (Polonia). Thirty-seven young people, FMA and SDB represented the different countries of Europe.
The General Assembly is an annual event, a moment of formation, sharing and mutual enrichment. It is a big help in the growth of the Salesian Youth Movement in Europe.
For a better knowledge of the different contexts, Croatia and Poland presented the Salesian Youth Movement in their country. There was also a presentation of best practice. It offered to the participants the possibility of knowing interesting initiatives, similar activities and possible opportunities of working together.
The formative moment this year focused on the social and missionary dimension of the Salesian Youth Spirituality. The Assembly also discussed possible modifications in the document “Coordination of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) Europe and M. East”. Next year is the 10th anniversary of the SYM Coordination in Europe and M. East.
We can say that the coordination and connection among the various groups of the SYM envisioned at the SYM FORUM 2000 is being realized in Europe and the M. East at various levels: local, provincial, national, continental. The SYM Coordination for Europe and the M. East looks forward to the coming years with enthusiasm and a greater awareness of its responsibility to make our youth groups and youth centres places of encounter with Jesus Christ in order to become leaven in society and active members of the Christian community.
The Tenth General Assembly next year will be held in Vienna (Austria).
