Pope Francis’ indications for peace vigil: confessions, rosary and Eucharistic adoration

6 settembre 2013
September 6, 2013. (Romereports.com) The Vatican’s master of ceremonies, Guido Marini, prepared a prayer vigil fit for the likes of Pope Francis. After all, he was the one who gave all of the specifics about how this four hour-long encounter should be carried through.
First, and long before the beginning of the ceremony, 50 priests will be available to hear confessions all around Bernini’s Colonnade. Confession means reconciliation, and that’s why the Pope wants this sacrament to be extremely present at Saturday’s vigil.

Attendees will also pray the Rosary. Before the start of each Mystery, a biblical commentary and a brief text by St. Therese of Lisieux will be read.

Pope Francis will follow with a speech that will likely include a strongly-worded message. Later, the Eucharistic Adoration will take place. In a symbolic gesture, five people from Syria, Egypt, Israel, United States and Russia. will carry the incense.

Moments later, St. John’s Gospel will be read, specifically the episode in which the Risen Christ appears to his Disciples and fills them with peace and joy.
Lastly, the Pope will bless all participants. At around 11 at night, and after four intense hours of prayer, he will head back inside into the Vatican.
