With the SYS….Stand Firm in the Faith!
The school community of Mary Help of Christians (Pampanga) Inc. deeply felt the sudden resignation of our beloved Pope Benedict XVI. Immediately after 3 days of announcement the sisters together with the whole educating community knelt down in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament exposed at the school’s gymnasium. It was a touching moment seeing our graders praying with their whole heart and soul. From this day onwards everyone was encouraged to intensify their Lenten practices, offer prayers and sacrifices for the intention of our beloved Pope.
A week after, it was then a sunny afternoon and the SALESIAN YOUTH MOVEMENT gathered to celebrate a remarkable closure of another year of fruitful holiness. With the theme: With SYS…MHCians STAND FIRM IN THE FAITH! The celebration highlighted a Concert dedicated to Pope Benedict XVI. Their hearts were united as they sang and danced to the different beats of the songs “Yes Lord!” “Our God is a great big God” and many others that reignited their burning desire to serve the Church and their love for the Pope as what Don Bosco had handed down to us. After a showcase of the different Clubs, the Sisters also gave tribute to our beloved Pope. They sang and danced which delighted everyone, especially the young. This was followed by an “agape” by each Club. It was heart-warming to look at how our young shared and were one in the Salesian Youth Movement. The recognition of all outstanding SYM Leaders and members followed the solemn ceremony and ended with a hymn to Don Bosco entitled “Live the Dream”. While singing the song the representatives from each Club and each sector of the Educating community – the Parents, Teachers and Sisters, passed on the ribbons with different colors to all the members of the Movement signifying the continuity of the legacy left to us by our Founder St. John Bosco. It was also a moving moment when we remembered and prayed for our Pope. The whole activity concluded with a bonfire and a solemn ritual which challenged each one to be LIGHT to others especially on this Year of Faith. Together, with the Salesian Youth Spirituality …. we will stand firm in the faith!
