Vatican’s ‘Court of Gentiles’ heading to Mexico, Portugal and Italy

27 settembre 2012

September 26, 2012. (Romereports.com) After a successful run in Barcelona, Stockholm and Paris the Court of Gentiles is now heading to Italy, Portugal and Mexico. It’s all part of a  project launched by the Vatican which promotes dialogue between believers and non believers.

On October 5th and 6th, the Court of Gentiles will be in the Italian city of Assisi, just a few days before the start of the Synod on the New Evangelization.

CARD. GIANFRANCO RAVASI
President, Pontifical Council for Culture

“When evangelization first started, it was addressed to everyone, not just believers.  We are convinced that the Christian message also has a value in culture and society, not just in the world of faith.”
In November, the meeting will take place in Portugal, where the main topic will be value and dignity of human life. Then the first week of May 2013, the meeting will head out across the Atlantic, all the way to Mexico. The goal is to gradually encourage each country to foster a relationship and dialogue between believers and non believers.

CARD. GIANFRANCO RAVASI
President, Pontifical Council for Culture

“Eventually we would like the Church to slowly go beyond the perimeters of parishes, so people can take the message out on the streets. It’s a way to engage with those who maybe would never go to church, but still they ask the same questions as believers.”

The meetings are not based on lectures, but rather on dialogue. The next gathering in Assisi, will include Cardinal Ginafranco Ravasi and Italy’s president Giorgio Napolitano.
