Message of Mother General to the Youth Pilgrims on their Way to Cuatro Vientos
Dear young people,
You are on your way to Cuatro Vientos, you, representatives of all the Salesian youth of the world.
You are a “pilgrim people” who, from different parts of the world, have started out on this journey, in prayer and in the depths of your heart, in order to reach your desired aim: meeting Jesus through the person who, today, represents Him: Pope Benedict XVI.
I invite you to open your hearts to all that you will receive in this “holy journey”.
Allow yourselves to be deeply touched by this experience and something in your life will change. You will become, according to the words of Jesus Himself, salt of the earth and light of the world. Jesus Himself will make His light reflected on your face. Listen to His footsteps in your life; He walks beside you and speaks to your heart.
May you be accompanied by the words of Benedict XVI in his message for this XXVIth World Youth Day. They are full of trust and of hope:
“ Listen to Jesus as a true friend with whom you can share your path in life. With him at your side, you will find courage and hope to face difficulties and problems, and even to overcome disappointments and set-backs…
Dear young people, the Church depends on you! She needs your lively faith, your creative charity and the energy of your hope. Your presence renews, rejuvenates and gives new energy to the Church.”
In the name of God and with the presence of Mary, whom Jesus has given us as Mother at the foot of the cross, go as pilgrims and as missionaries. Pray, share and live with joy the experience of meeting Jesus. After having encountered Him, may you lead other young people to Him, to witness with deep joy what you have discovered, that which is most essential in the life of all and of each one, to be “Rooted and built up in Jesus Christ, steadfast in the faith”.
May God bless you!
