The Salesian Youth Movement at the World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid
The Salesian Youth Movement has heeded Pope Benedict XVI’s invitation to come to Madrid. Around 6500 young people, Salesians of Don Bosco and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians from 57 countries are taking part in this great manifestation of youthful faith.
For the first time, the groups belonging to the Salesian Youth Movement have more possibility to interact with each other and to experience the joy of belonging to a Family that lives its own style of holiness, the Salesian youth spirituality. They will be housed in the different Salesian schools and centers in Madrid and its suburbs, thanks to the generosity and hard work of the Salesian family of Spain, especially the provinces of Madrid (FMA and SDB) and Léon (FMA).
In the morning of August 17, in C.E.S. (Centro de Enseñanza Superior en Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación) Don Bosco, the Mini-Forum will be held for around 150 representatives of the Salesian Youth Movement. The focus of the meeting is the Salesian youth spirituality, how it is lived in the different contexts and how it is our specific contribution to the Church and to society. The meeting will be enriched by the presence of the Rector Major, Fr. Pascual Chávez, and Mother General, Sr. Yvonne Reungoat.
In the afternoon of the same day, in the Instituto Politecnico Salesiano Atocha, a big gathering for the groups of the Salesian Youth Movement will be a grand explosion of joy and youthful dynamism in a climate of prayer and feast. The Rector Major and Mother General will also be present.
May the strong experience of the Salesian youth spirituality and of belonging to the Salesian Youth Movement be for all our young people a confirmation of the value of belonging to a group where they find a community that will sustain them in the difficult and challenging journey of faith.
